autowala stories
32 year-old Annadurai runs his share auto on the Thiruvanmiyur-Sholinganallur route in Chennai. His auto is, however, not the one you find on regular days. Annadurai’s auto has top-notch facilities. Free WiFi, mobile charging point, 40 magazines, 10 newspapers, TV, laptop, and tablets; Annadurai's 'Amazing Auto' has it all.
Annadurai was born in Peravurani, a small town in Thanjavur district. His family shifted to Chennai when he was just four. He has been running his share auto for seven years. “I don’t know why I started adding things to my auto. I just thought I must do something for my customers and stocked around 20 newspapers. But, it wasn’t enough," Annadurai told The Hindu.
Annadurai gives free rides to all teachers. "Be it doctors, engineers or even the president, they were groomed by teachers and so I respect them," he told NDTV. He also gives free rides to lovers on Valentine's Day, mothers with their kids on Mother's Day, and fathers of Father's Day. On Children's Day, school children too enjoy free rides in his auto.

Marigold
It's hard not to love a marigold's bright yellow, orange, and red flowers. Happily, this is one of the easiest seeds to grow.
Starting Tips: You can sow marigolds directly into the garden. If you start seeds indoors, sow seed 1/8 inch deep. They usually sprout in less than a week.

mari gold grow in paper coffee cup marigold
Making Coffee Cup Marigolds is easy: simply collect 15-20 coffee cups (that’s only about a week and a half of caffeine, right?) from your favorite local coffee shops. The more you collect, the more you’ll start to covet certain designs.
Give the cups a good rinse. Poke holes in the bottom of each cup for drainage (2-4 works best) using a pair of scissors. Then, you can either fill each cup 2/3 of the way with potting soil and plant seeds at 1 inch depth, or transplant a seedling on top of ~2 inches of soil and fill the rest of the cup so that it is compact.
We chose to plant Marigolds because you can find them in any region and they are very easy to grow– but you can do this with any other plant that’s in season (like pea shoots and fennel, if its early May). Give the cups a generous water after you’ve planted the seeds/seedlings, and leave them in the sun where they can grow and drain (remember: there are holes in the bottom and the water will seep through). Once they sprout, try spelling letters with the blossoms. (We had to do a “G” for Garden Collage– we couldn’t resist.)

Budhniya Bai resides with her husband in Mandla, Madhya Pradesh. The couple grows crops on 2 acres of land but the yield is not enough to make ends meet. Like many of their fellow villagers, they engage in wage labour for an alternate source of income. But the wages do not suffice to cause Budhniya Bai to now focus on a new livelihood – an eatery. She plans to set up a small roadside stall to cater to customers passing by. But she cannot proceed further without our help. Her husband and she earn a combined income of Rs. 50000/- leaving little room for investment in a new business. Their savings are minimal, to say the least, and would never cover an initiative of this scale which would cost them around Rs. 10000/-.
Budhniya Bai is in urgent need of a loan that she intends to use to buy utensils, groceries, materials for a makeshift stall etc… She plans to repay this loan in smaller portions over a period of 12 months. You can support her loan request by making a small contribution towards it. Join us in our journey to help disadvantaged communities become more financially secur

Amjad Pasha aged 32 lives with his wife and three infant children at Audigodi Bangalore. He landed at Bangalore years back as a teenager as a rag/waste picker. He used to sell the collected scrap after segregation at a designated shop for Rs.5-6 to Rs.20 a Kg depending on the stuff collected. As time progressed, he opened a shop at the outskirts of the city and engaged rag pickers to provide him the scrap which he would sell to industries which require such items. With the world around giving special emphasis on solid waste management and service delivery, more factories started buying scrap which helped him increase his sales. Cities like Bangalore face huge challenges with regards to waste management and with the formation of “ Hasirudala”, waste management became an organized affair and the segregated waste was assured of prevailing market rates.
Amjad, in the meantime has expanded his business and has a small godown. His people go around different places in vans and collect waste, segregate them and with the help of “Hasirudala” is sold at the prevailing rates. With improvement in business, he has now come forward to Rang De through Hasirudala for another loan of Rs. 50000/- to buy another van and employ two more workers. He has even repaid back the earlier loan taken for this venture. Kindly donate your small contribution to Amjad who with Rang De Changemaker and Hasirudala is looking ahead of having a better life from being a ragpicker to being a part of the Global initiative of a cleaner and better Bangalore.
Shakun Bai, aged 47 is a resident of Pipariya village in Mandla District, Madhya Pradesh. She lives with her husband Chhotelal (49) who is working as an agricultural labourer and earns around Rs. 30000/- annually. Since the sales from land produce have been irregular over years, she is really concerned about the financial stability for her family. Her husband is working hard every day to make their ends meet. To help her husband she has planned to start a new footwear retail business in which she will sell shoes, footwear and chapplas at retail price to her customers.
Due to lack of funds she has applied for a loan at Rang De which amounts to Rs.10000/- for the tenure of 12 months. The loan will be utilized to purchase footwear items from wholesaler so that she can sell it to her customers and earn a reasonable profit. Do contribute in Shakun Bai's loan so that she could make her financial conditions better. A little help from our side can bring new hopes for a better life to the couple.
Munni Bai
https://www.rangde.org/borrower/microcredit/india/madhya-pradesh/munni/66241
Munni Bai, 52-year-old hails from Mukaskala village of Madhya Pradesh. Her husband works as an agricultural labor and earns INR 30,000 per annum. Due to which managing expenses of the whole family in this amount are very much difficult.
Munni has decided to open up a grocery store so that she can provide fast-selling commodities under a single umbrella. Such a store would not only help the residents in her locality but also enhance Munni's livelihood. Paying off debt is one of the major challenges faced by women like her. Opening a shop is a productive idea that she believes will help her increase the family income.
Do make your contribution in raising the loan of INR 10,000. Do participate in building a family's dream!
*The loan tenure will be of 12 months.
